Calling on the Oppo Hive mind. What aftermarket wheels don’t suck? I’m look for a winter wheel/tire set for the TourX. There are more options than 1 year ago, they all still seem to suck.
I’m looking at the usual suspects, Discount Tire, Tire Rack, Les Schwab..... but I’m getting Vox, Raceline..... Nothing to inspire confidence that they won’t bend sooner rather than later.
Any suggestions?

Steelies with Dog Dish, be a re
bel.

I’d do that but where can you buy a steelie that’ll fit?

That’s super weird, Tire Rack won’t even show me wheels for the TourX...

Wildcard: Use the ugly-ass stock rims for winter and get something nice for the spring as the main wheels.
I like everything about the TourX except the bumpy top of the fender cladding and the wheels. The rest is pretty great.
Another alternative: Steelies. Because irony on a Buick.

Yep. They have a weird bolt pattern and offset. All I’m seeing is wheels with two sets of bolt holes drilled into them. I can’t stand that.

Possible.

I believe your bolt pattern is 5x115mm. I have a set of 18x8 in 5x115mm that I used to run on my Ponatiac Grand Prix GT. They are Eagle Alloy AE077s. They look like this:
I f you’re interested I can get you pictures, measurements, verify the bolt pattern , offset, etc. Though I will warn you, they are a bit worse for wear and need to either be cleaned and polished up, or a good candidate for Plastidip or something.

Sorry, I got excited to see someone might possibly maybe consider having a need for wheels like these. I sold the Grand Prix back in like 2006-ish, so I’ve had these wheels taking up space for like 13 years. In other words, what I’m trying to say is, if you’re interested I’m willing to make you a very good deal on them.

Unrelated question: How are you liking your TourX?

I’m finding out more about other cars and it seems the W Body cars(I think that is the platform) had the same pattern.
I’ll confirm with the head decision maker on getting a set of winters.
As far as looks, if they aren’t bent, don’t leak, and will balance, I don’t car what they look like.

pretty sure you need spinners

I looked up the Regal sedan/hatchback “sportback”
TR li sts wheels for the hatch, but not the wagon. The wheel specs, bolt pattern/offset/etc should be the same
They have the
BBS
SR, 17x7.5, ET40 that will fit your Regal. BBS is kind of expensive, but they are very high quality wheels.

look up the sportback. They should be the same :o)

I’m a fan of steelies for the winter tires. Whose gonna be impressed with the filthy rims on my wagon in the snow anyway?

when it comes to aftermarket wheels, there are ONLY two options

D-slot steelies. (Or O-slot if you’re more into those)

Yeah, the W-Body was GM’s medium FWD platform and covered the Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, Regal, and a few others.
I’ll be out in the garage tonight, I’m trying to get it cleaned up and ready for the county inspector so I can finish my electrical subpanel. I’ll measure them and verify, and snap some pictures and get you more details.

I REALLY liked the previous gen Insignia VRX wheels. They might fit.

Looks like the Equinox
and T
errain are on the same bolt pattern maybe that would open up an option.

I’ll have to take a look.

Can never go wrong with a set of steelies. Bonus points if you paint them in your color of choice.
If you really are yearning for real wheels. Sparco Terra’s look great in any shade they offer. Rally wheels win

Those are nice. Can you get them on this side of the pond?
![]() 10/22/2019 at 18:59 |

Not sure, but I’m sure enough money could get them here. They are not priced TOO terribly for a dual finish wheel:
Also, you should doublecheck the spacing in case they changed anything, but the look is cool.

As you can see, they are 18x8 ( its from the bead seat, so subtract about an inch from the rim face) , and 5x115mm (did my best to show this). Back spacing is 6", but take away about 1/2" of lip, and then 4" of bead width, and you’ve got 1.5" of positive offset, which is about 40mm (38 is my rough calculation, but I think when I bought them they were sold as 40mm offset). One thing not shown, the hub bore is ~ 82mm, and I have a set of hubcentric rings in there to reduce it to ~70mm. You’d need to find out your hub bore as you may need different spacers.
I think the wheel pictured is representative of all of them. None have any major curb rash or g ouging. One is missing a hub ring, so make that 3/4, but you may need a different size anyways. Aside from that they are just dirty/gross and need some elbow grease (or plastidip).
If you’re seriously interested and the boss supports it I can get you more pictures and stuff. Id also be happy to get them out of here, so all Id want is shipping costs + $50 to cover packing materials, gas, beer, etc. I seem to recall you’re in the Denver area, if so a UPS quote was around $200. I have a friend who is a UPS manager, so maybe I can do a bit better. Let me know and I’ll give you my email address if you want to do the transaction and we can workout details. No pressure though, you gotta make sure they are what you want on the car.

Wanted to add, I googled it this morning, they actually are a 38mm offset. They looked mean on the Grand Prix - stuck out just a hair more than the factory wheels, which looked good. I hate when the wheels are tucked way up in the fenders.

Let’s set something up. The hub is 70mm so the rings you have should fit. I’m not getting anything cheaper.
